By the way, the owner of the car was the Georgian Prince Zourab Tchkotoua, he shared it with Hitchcock. That year they also raced the Targa Florio finishing 8th.

Jochen Rindt’s crash at Montjuïc ‘69 - Part VI (Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V)
The guilty? The rear wing. In the picture below, if you check out the left side of it you can notice that it was a little bit bended, in that curve the downforce was very high and the rear wing broke down. Both Lotus, Hill and Rindt, had the same accident because the same problem: aerodynamics. ‘68 and ‘69 were seasons where the races were almost test tracks, and the cars were full of wings, of all sizes and in all positions. And as always, Chapman to the limit, and beyond… ;)
